In what can only be described as a mash-up of epic proportions, possibly anyways, Grand Cru has announced a new game they are working on called The Supernauts. This will be a sandbox superhero MMO game with cross-platform multiplayer for a variety of platforms including Android.
Featuring a sandbox style world similar to that found in Minecraft where you can create or destroy blocks (although they are different shapes) with your little zapper gun, The Supernauts is looking to be a social MMO with all the trimmings and attempting to appeal to a variety of different gamers. Whether you just enjoy building structure or happen to dig being a superhero, The Supernauts is hoping to fill that void. Unlike Minecraft though, there will be plenty of quests and puzzles to solve for both solo gameplay as well as teaming up with other people.
Since Sulake runs the Habbo Hotel online community, to which Grand Cru are friends with, they have also learned a lot regarding the fun social aspects that can be had in an MMO and plan to bring some of that into The Supernauts as well. Things like visiting your friends’ floating island homes, experiencing instanced multiplayer areas for more specific challenges and just a lot of collaborative play. The idea behind the game is that you are a superhero who lives above Earth, but you will be flying down to the surface to save humans from rising waters and probably other nature disasters or events where you will gain XP, money, loot and all that good stuff.
The Supernauts will be cross-platform multiplayer and you will be able to log-in and continue on with your gameplay regardless if you are playing on an iOS device, Android, browser or on Facebook. It will be free-to-play so there will be optional in-game payments for boosters and character customizing we are guessing. The Supernauts is expected to drop onto all platforms later this year but you can try and get into the private alpha and beta testing phases by going to the official site, linked below, and signing up.
