Hearthstone is returning to the Un’Goro Crater with its next expansion, The Lost City of Un’Goro. It’s releasing on July 8th. Although Hearthstone first featured Un’Goro in 2017, this version introduces a new storyline and updated gameplay.
What’s in The Lost City of Un’Goro in Hearthstone?
The update adds 145 new cards, a new keyword, and returning mechanics. Also, there’s a new story that follows a new expedition into the long-hidden city.
The Lost City of Un’Goro expansion follows Loh, a Tortollan explorer, as he leads a group into the lost city. Elise Starseeker joins him as the navigator, and Umbra, a former Tortollan leader, serves as the guide. Loh is unaware that Umbra has her own motives, which unfold over the course of the set.
Now, onto the more exciting part! The Lost City of Un’Goro introduces a new keyword to Hearthstone called Kindred. A card with Kindred will receive a bonus effect if you played a card of the same minion type or the same spell school on your previous turn. Kindred is designed to activate based on the card you played one turn earlier, not in the same turn.
Quest cards are also making a return. These are 1-cost Legendary spells that start in your opening hand. Each class gets one new Quest. After completing the conditions written on the card, you’ll unlock a powerful reward.
And There’s More to Unpack
There are seven Story cards that draw from the original Un’Goro set. You’ll get to dive into the past expedition of the Un’Goro Crater, as there are references to events and characters.
Six new Map cards are also part of the expansion. When you play a Map, you discover a card from three options. If you play the chosen card on the same turn, you will receive one of the other two options as well. If you don’t, you only keep the first one.
