Ignatius is a new atmospheric puzzle platformer that is actually a bit of a hidden gem

While we haven’t done our Hidden Gem series in a bit, it doesn’t mean we don’t find any more hidden gems on Google Play. Quite the opposite actually and this is one of those games that could easily qualify as a hidden gem, even with how new it is. Meet Ignatius, a new puzzle platformer with a pretty interesting visual style and a storyline to match it.

In Ignatius, players will assume control of our hero of the same name, Ignatius. We are in a surreal black-and-white world where our little boy is bored with his monotonous life already. One night Ignatius runs into a mysterious theater director named Vigo, who moves him to oneiric film reality. If you’re not familiar with the term Oneiric, it essentially means dream, or a dream-like state. However, once you’re in this new dream-like reality, the theater director failed to tell you how to get out of it, so you will need to find a way to escape it.

Ignatius Features:

– unique visual design
– moody sound and music
– two types of controls to choose from
– varied and interesting maps
– “save anywhere”

Visually Ignatius has a dark noir look to it with a few other visual themes laced into it such as steampunk and art deco. Overall, it really does have the aesthetics of silent movies from back in the day, something which the developers point out. The soundtrack matches the visual style, giving the entire game a pretty atmospheric feel to it.

Ignatius is available off of Google Play for free and it doesn’t come with IAPs either. You can check out the game’s trailer with the video below to see some of the gameplay, as well as some additional screenshots.
