Indie studio We Are Muesli has announced a new narrative game called In Their Shoes. They’re planning to release it in 2026 on both mobile and PC. The game has already earned a nomination for independent and arthouse games awards ‘A MAZE. 2025’ in Berlin.
In Their Shoes Is a Narrative Game that’s More About Listening
The game is set in a present-day Milan, a city full of contradictions. It lets you slip into the lives of seven different characters. You get 49 short interactive stories, each called a Moment, that give you a glimpse into someone’s day.
Each Moment lets you experience the character’s hesitations, routines and split-second decisions. Some of them play out slowly, letting you sit with a character’s thoughts. Others press you to react quickly, mirroring some real-life moments.
The narrative in In Their Shoes isn’t very tidy, though, unlike any other game in the genre. As you piece together the scattered stories, you’ll uncover 26 hidden biographical details for each character. It’s slice-of-life through and through.
The Play Store page isn’t up yet but the Steam page is. On that note, catch a glimpse of the game right here.
