Crunchyroll has just added Kardboard Kings to their Android vault. It’s a single-player management shop-keeper game where running a card shop is an adventure in itself. The game originally released for PC in February 2022.

Developed by Henry’s House, Oscar Brittain, Rob Gross and published by Akupara Games, Kardboard Kings has been ported to consoles. And now it’s on mobile, courtesy of Crunchyroll. If you have a Crunchyroll membership, you can grab the game for free.

What’s the Deal in Kardboard Kings?

You play as Harry Hsu, the protagonist. He has just inherited a card shop from his father who was a card collector and a former champion of the legendary card game Warlock. He is the new face behind the counter, diving into the wild world of buying, selling and trading cards.

Harry gets a trusted friend aiding him in his new job. It’s Giuseppe, a cockatoo with a knack for fast-talking and card dealing. Yep, he gets a bird as his business partner who has better instincts than most humans when it comes to sniffing out a good deal.

The shop in Kardboard Kings is located in a charming location by the seaside. As harry, you have your hands full trying to keep every customer happy. Or if you feel a little mischievous, you can even try ripping them off for some extra cash.

The characters are full of charm, sarcasm and bring references to other card games and anime. The cards are no less, with over 100 unique designs with quirky illustrations that include shiny variants.

What’s the Gameplay Like?

It starts out straightforward: buy low, sell high and make profits. As you progress, card conditions and set rarities keep changing. Every little factor, including foil finish, abilities popularity, affects a card’s value.

Kardboard Kings also has a roguelite deckbuilding mode on Card Game Island. Here, you can play against some serious duelists. You can also host tournaments, throw booster pack parties or even set up clearance sales to clear out the clutter.

If you’re a Crunchyroll member, grab Kardboard Kings from the Google Play Store.
