Kevin Bradford Creates Mind Boggling Puzzles in The Guides Now Available on Google Play

There a games with puzzles, and then there are puzzling games. Kevin Bradford and Luke Lisi have created the latter, in a popular new game called The Guides, that is now available on Google Play. If you enjoy games that have puzzles at a much higher level of difficulty, and could possibly strain your brain, welcome to The Guides.

After coming across The Guides, the images alone made me download the game. Am I a puzzle fan? Yes, you can say that. However, this level of puzzles, I am most certain will challenge me. Looking at the first few images, I immediately began to think about some of the images shown in M. Night Shyamalan’s movie starring Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix, Signs, which was released back in 2002. There is something a little bit unnerving about looking at the images. They embody secrecy, will most definitely require some cryptography, and have an allure all their own. Even more interesting, is the fact that the other apps that Kevin Bradford has released in the Google Play Store, are all fun and educational games for children from preschool to fifth grade. It looks like he may have been simmering on this one for a while, because the images and the premise are quite compelling. In collaboration with Luke Lisi, a brilliant digital designer based in Kansas City, Missouri, they have created what is sure to be one of the best puzzle games of the year.

“What are The Guides? Not your average puzzler. Consisting of hundreds of extremely challenging codes, puzzles and interactive ciphers, The Guides is a journey that will challenge your wit, stretch your imagination and test your ingenuity in unique and innovative ways. Simply stated, they’re not easy. Progressing will be difficult, but you have the appropriate tools at your disposal. Everything you need to proceed is – or has been – provided.”– Kevin Bradford

The Guides Features:

  • Hundreds of interactive puzzles and ciphers with each being more unique than the last.
  • Piece together the fragmented story to reveal the source of the messages.
  • Various game mechanics such as the code interface screen and the title bar to provide added support.
  • Integrated decoding tools – including morse, binary and many more – to assist you on your journey.
  • Ability to save screenshots to keep track of invaluable clues and notes.
  • A distress support system is available if you find yourself stuck, but use sparingly, for your transmissions are limited.
  • New sections currently being designed and developed.

We are really excited to delve into The Guides. It has just as much intrigue and mystery as The Room series of puzzle games. As stated in their description, this is not an easy game, but reviews in the Play Store thus far, have been exceptional. Right now, you can pick up The Guides while it is on sale. You can have all of the puzzles and visual beauty for $.99 You can’t beat that price for this polished package that has been put together… and there are no in-app purchases. After the sale price is off, the game will cost $1.99, which is still a really good deal.

I also stumbled upon The Guides Compendium, which is described as: “…the illustrated and photographic novel intended to give supplementary detail to the primary game. Though not essential to progressing and solving puzzles in the primary game. The Guides Compendium provides clues and may serve as inspiration to help you continue your cryptic journey. Peculiar, isn’t it?” The compendium is available for $.99 So if you grab the game and the compendium, you can get both for the regular price of the game. Not a bad idea right? I grabbed both to support the work of Mr. Bradford and Mr. Lisi. A premium priced game and no-in app purchases packaged in a unique fashion, are definitely worth checking out.

Take a look at the trailer. If you are intrigued, the link to download the game and the compendium are below. After you have taken it for a spin, let us know what you think in the comments. Based on the description, more puzzles are already being developed.
