Slothwerks, the indie dev behind the Meteorfall series, is back with a new card battler. Meteorfall: Rustbowl Rumble has now opened pre-registration on Android. After Meteorfall (2017) and Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale (2019), it’s the third game in the series, and is set to release next month.
What’s the Setting?
It’s a roguelike deckbuilder. The matches are fast, and winning means bending the rules, not playing by them. You’ll be slapping down cards, trying to impress a bloodthirsty crowd. You play in a squad of three heroes who are chosen from a pool of eight, each with their own deck.
The game features more than 200 cards, and you can customise them mid-run with layered upgrades. Wild Cards let you break the usual rules of engagement, and you’ll be pulling off feats mid-battle to earn buffs.
Between battles, you’ll hang out in Bramble Town, where you’ll need to make some tough calls. For instance, do you upgrade your deck, train your team, or just wander around and soak in the weirdness?
Pre-Registration for Meteorfall: Rustbowl Rumble Is Now Live
The game was originally announced as Bramble Royale, but apparently, a lot of folks thought it was a battle royale. So, the devs officially rebranded it to Meteorfall: Rustbowl Rumble a couple of weeks ago.
It’s a smart move since by reattaching the Meteorfall name, players will immediately recognise it as part of the same weird and quirky world. On that note, catch a glimpse of what the game looks like below.
