Metro Quester – Hack & Slash is now available on Android. A dungeon exploring RPG, it’s not your usual KEMCO title. Sure, it’s a turn-based JRPG, but it leans more into a gritty, old-school dungeon crawler game.

Seek the Truth of a Lost World

In the game, you and your crew are scavengers. You head underground to scrape together whatever you can before your weekly food quota runs out. The big number to keep in mind is 100. You need 100 food every seven in-game days to keep going.

To do so, you dive into monster-infested ruins, checking places like Otemachi and Ginza for leftovers. Also, you can’t level up until you’re back at a proper camp, assuming you’ve survived and gathered enough stuff.

Each of the 24 characters in Metro Quester – Hack & Slash you can choose from comes with their own class. There are eight total classes. Your combo skills, weapons, and strategies are all on you to customize.

Each ability takes up action points, and you get only five points to work with at a time. You also only get one use per ability each round, so planning matters.

The dungeon in Metro Quester – Hack & Slash reveals itself as you walk. Sometimes you’ll find food buried in dirt. Other times, you’ll walk into monster nests or pick up keys that unlock new areas. You might also stumble onto a campground where you can set up your new base.

The look of the game is pretty minimal. The environment stays bleak and colourless, while your team stands out in sharp contrast. On that note, take a peek at it right here.

There’s also a NEW GAME+ mode for when you’ve made your way through the main content. It’s going to appeal to you if you like replaying with tougher challenges.

The game is now available on Android for $14.99. It doesn’t support game controllers, and is only available in English and Japanese. So, check it out from the Google Play Store.
