A new update from Minecraft HQ might grab your attention if you’re the kind of person daunted by the Minecraft server browser. The official Minecraft server list just dropped and promises to make the process a little less intimidating.. and arguably safer for those involved.

If you’ve spent a lot of time on the behemoth that is Minecraft, you’ve probably at least dabbled in the world of multiplayer servers. While the game is good fun on its own, it becomes exponentially more fun when you’re playing it with your buddies.

It’s Wild Out There

Of course, unless you’re shelling out to host your own server, or you’re a master of Java edition port forwarding, you need to join a server to enjoy what multiplayer has to offer.

Until recently, this has been a bit of a Wild West. Nearly anybody could start up a server and post the address online. It’s hard to be sure of what you’re logging into, something that might worry a few parents whose children are eager to get out there.

With the introduction of the official server list, players can find and copy addresses for a ton of different pre-approved multiplayer servers. The list came about in collaboration with the gaming safety and verification company GamerSafer, and sets out to provide a list of the safest worlds to visit.

No Buying Favor

Communities listed on the server list can’t pay their way onto the roster. Each server must apply, show their willingness to abide by the Minecraft usage guidelines, and share the owner’s contact information with the site. Guess 2b2t is out of the running.

Old favorites like Wynncraft and Skyblock are there, but there’s also plenty of opportunity to find new places to explore.

The list applies over both Java and Bedrock versions. (You can, indeed, run Minecraft Java on Android, but Bedrock is probably more pertinent to most users on the platform.)

Want to check it out. Head over to the official site. Make sure to filter by version if you’re on the mobile version.
