More Free Phones From Unity3D

Unity3D continues to make news it seems and this week is no exception. In the midst of giving away 500 free Nexus One phone to the first 500 pre-sale orders of Unity Pro for Android, another announcement was made today regarding even more free phones. Unity3D is really pushing their support of Android but to get these phones you have to be a school.

Yes you heard right, a school. Unity3D is offering up an impressive package to help push future Android game development by allowing school to issue a RFP (Request For Porposal) to Unity3D. After Unity3D collects them all, they will pick three school who will receive 20 copies of Unity Pro for Android, 20 copies of Unity Pro and 20 free Nexus One phones to develop on.

However, in our eagerness to kick start Unity Android game production, we do not want to skip over the important role schools play in shaping the next generation of application designers. That is why I am pleased to announce that today Unity is opening an RFP (Request For Proposal) to select up to three schools whose programs will each be awarded 20 copies of Unity Android Pro, Unity Pro and 20 Nexus One Phones.Unity3D Blog

If you are going to a school that offers any sort of 3D graphic and game development/production course, why not talk to your teacher or staff at your school and get them to put in the RFP. You’ll be able to find all the details of the program including the appropriate forms in PDF format here. You can also read the full announcement on Unity3D’s blog. For details on how to get a free Nexus One with a pre-order of Unity Pro for Android feel free to check out our article for more details.

It’s great to see such continued and strong support for a company over gaming on the Android platform and with more people getting to use tools to make great games in schools, we should start to see even more quality games coming to the Android platform.
