Move Over, Fallout 76, Ashfall Will Take Your Post Apocalyptic Crown This July

Ashfall character battling enemies.

Fallout 76’s days are numbered if the upcoming post-apocalyptic MMORPG Ashfall ends up being even half as good as its recent teaser trailer suggests.

Check out the official trailer right now on YouTube. It looks absolutely insane, doesn’t it? And all the more impressive when you consider that it will run on Android as well as PC.

What a World

The world you can explore is deeply impressive, with a wide variety of environments. Sand-swept deserts, Horizon-style forests full of robotic monsters, and ruined cities all make an appearance.

It’s all suitably snappy in the gameplay department too. It’s a third-person shooter in a similar vein to The Division. You fire at enemies, dodge roll when they get too close, and probably get showered in loot when they go down.

Base Building

Base building also seems to make an appearance. The trailer shows off a bunker slowly being filled with stuff until it’s pretty cosy. You know, for a nuclear fallout bunker.

It’s not clear to what extent the base building will play a part in the gameplay experience. Can you invite your friends over? Can you create your own little crafting hub? Guess you’ll have to wait and see.

When’s the Closed Beta?

Ashfall will enter closed beta in July. We can’t narrow down the window any further than that, as the official website only shows off July as the date. We don’t make the rules!

If you can’t wait that long to play a game, why not head on over to our best new Android games this week feature?
