My Child New Beginnings is now out on Android. Sarepta Studio has brought the game to mobile. Much like its predecessor My Child Lebensborn, the 2019 BAFTA Games Beyond Entertainment award winner, it’s an evolving nurture game.
The original placed players in post-WW2 Norway, raising a child born under circumstances that filled their daily life with hostility and shame. My Child New Beginnings takes place decades later, in 1990s Norway.
The child you raise carries different wounds
You play as an adoptive parent raising Klaus or Karin, preteens still dealing with the aftershocks of a traumatic past. You provide safety, love, guidance, and companionship.
It’s about helping a child heal, including scenes of trauma, panic attacks, anxiety, and the messy process of rebuilding trust and stability. Every choice you make affects their day-to-day emotional balance.
My Child New Beginnings is a life simulator rather than a strictly linear narrative. So, normal routines are as important as the dramatic moments. You juggle going to work, getting groceries, managing the household, and figuring out how to fit meaningful interactions with the child in between.
The town gradually expands as your story moves forward. It gives the child new chances to form friendships and recover their sense of belonging. Each storyline stretches across multiple sessions, while smaller story chapters run anywhere from four in-game days to a week.
Building a home that feels genuinely safe is both a mechanical and emotional challenge. You have to balance time and money, meet physical and emotional needs, and support learning and development. And you have to react carefully during moments where parenting becomes ethically complicated.
My Child New Beginnings places heavy emphasis on the bond between parent and child
Scenes of small joys, minor conflicts, and playful exchanges are what make the game realistic. While the setting starts in a single small Norwegian town, additional trips to the mountains or a big city occur through story events and DLC.
