First announced last month, Netflix has rolled out their latest feature Game Night. According to the streaming giant, it’s ‘Your TV + your phone = instant fun.’ Now, you can turn your living room into a casual game zone.
Use your phone to play party games on your TV via Netflix Game Night!
All it asks from you is a TV, your existing subscription, and a phone that can scan a QR code. The current lineup of Netflix Game Night includes Boggle Party, Lego Party!, Pictionary: Game Night, Tetris Time Warp, and Party Crashers: Fool Your Friends.
You pick a title on the TV, open your camera, scan the code, and your phone turns into the controller. No detours to the Play Store and no extra fees. That’s it. The feature also works in a web browser, if you prefer playing from a laptop instead of the big screen.
Let’s give you a quick intro to the available games
You can play Boggle Party with up to 7 other players. The classic word search game lets you find words amongst a grid of random letters, swiping to mark each word. Your TV serves as a scoreboard, showing the found words and tallying up everyone’s scores. Whoever finds the most unique words, or words with the most letters, wins.
LEGO Party! can be played with up to 3 other players. This one is a collection of mini-games where you navigate your way around a game board and try to rack up as many golden bricks as possible. There are 60 mini-games in total in this game.
In Pictionary, you decipher the doodles of your friends and family. It can accommodate up to 10 players. Should someone guess correctly, both they and the artist get points.
