Official Ong Bak game on the way and could very well land on Android

There is an official Ong Bak game currently being developed by Studio HIVE called Ong Bak Tri which will be based off of the upcoming installment into the series of movies that feature Tony Jaa beating the ever living hell out of a plethora of people. Even though it is being developed by Studio HIVE, it will be published onto PC, consoles and smartphones by Immanitas Entertainment.

While ‘smartphones’ is a very general term and could mean just iOS, just Android, or both, Ong Bak Tri is being developed using the Unity3D engine which means it is more than likely coming to both Android and iOS. So what can we expect to find in Ong Bak Tri? Well there will be the obvious healthy dose of ass whooping to enjoy. Aside from that though, there will also be free running sequences and highly cinematic quick-time action events to play through, so you won’t just be putting your fist or foot through someone’s skull repeatedly while flinging yourself in various direction over various objects like Elephants.

Ong Bak Tri will play out as a 2.5D side-scroller regardless of which mechanic you are currently playing through, whether it be the free running parts or the straight up fighting sections of the game. Like we mentioned earlier, Ong Bak Tri is being built using Unity3D so you can expect some pretty solid visuals to accompany the game’s action. What’s better are the screenshots showing off a bit of the game which really makes the visuals looks rather impressive. Interestingly enough, the game has been developed using feedback and direction for people who work on the Ong Bak movies including the movie director, Thossaporn Poonnart, and the original creator and master choreographer, Panna Rittikrai.

While there is no release date for Ong Bak Tri right now, Studio HIVE has confirmed that the game is in the final stages of development so it shouldn’t be too long of a wait before we can start mauling people in the game.
