Pokémon Go is introducing Dynamax Lugia for the first time during the Dynamax Lugia Max Battle Weekend. Lugia has made multiple entrances in the game over the years, but its return this year is definitely special.
When is the Dynamax Lugia Max Battle Weekend?
It runs from November 29th at 6:00 a.m. until November 30th, 2025 at 9:00 p.m. Five-star Max Battles will be the only place to face Lugia, and anyone hunting for something rarer has a shot at meeting a Shiny version as well.
The Max Particle cap will be 1,600 during the weekend. Also, a faster Power Spot refresh rate should make it easier to keep the count rising. Power Spots will hand out eight times their usual share.
Once the Nearby menu is cleared of its daily Max Particle allotment, the reduced adventuring distance requirement kicks in at one-quarter of the usual distance. If you rely on Adventure Sync, you can stock up more quickly than expected.
Meanwhile, Free Timed Research becomes available on November 25th, 2025 at 6:00 a.m. It’s a clear path to an encounter with a Dynamax Gastly once you complete all objectives. The same research also hands out Gastly Candy and Max Particles for the Lugia showdown. It ends on November 30th, 2025 at 9:00 p.m.
Campfire remains an important tool for coordination
With a tap on the green icon under the compass in the top-right corner of the map, nearby Max Battle and Flare activity becomes visible. You can also scout meetups through the Campfire Map, which should help you fill out teams before the weekend spikes in activity.
