Pokémon UNITE is stacking up its lineup once again, and this September it’s Empoleon will officially join the roster. And there are other new Pokémon tagging along (or rather behind) it! See how the battlefield feels with water-types and a legendary shaking up the meta.
When is Empoleon making its debut in Pokémon UNITE?
The All-Rounder makes its debut on September 19th. Actually, it was first teased during the 2025 Pokémon World Championships. Empoleon was shown with a purple background, which was the indicator for All-Rounders in the game.
It’s of the Emperor category and offers abilities like Torrent. It fits well with its overall balanced stats from Scarlet and Violet, where Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense sit just a little higher than the rest. Here’s the announcement video.
The addition of Empoleon sounds exciting enough, but the team dropped some more exciting news
Dhelmise and Vaporeon are also joining the roster, although their release dates haven’t been revealed yet. While exact details of their skillsets haven’t been shared, they’re expected to bring fresh strategies.
Meanwhile, another update is about to launch before Empoleon makes its debut in Pokémon UNITE. Starting September 4th, Groudon will crash into the Theia Sky Ruins as a new neutral boss.
Beating Groudon gives a massive attack boost and speeds up goal scoring. If an opposing Pokémon carrying Groudon’s buff gets knocked out, that effect will immediately transfer to you.
And while you’re at it, let me remind you that Pokémon UNITE is still running its 4th anniversary event. Latias is now a playable option, and you can actually get Latias’ Unite license by completing the 4th Anniversary missions. That event ends on September 4th, so grab the game from the Google Play Store before that.
