After launching on PC in March 2025, PolyPine is now on mobile. Developed and published by IndieArk, it’s a forest simulation game that lets you nurture a living, breathing ecosystem. Every tree, animal, and mushroom plays a part in keeping the forest alive.
A small tree simulator experiment is now a full-scale forest simulator!
PolyPine is all about balance. You begin with a few basic seeds and slowly watch your forest evolve through the full lifecycle of trees. From seed to sapling, adult tree, dead wood, and fallen trunks. Each stage has its own ecological purpose. It offers different habitats for plants, insects, and animals.
Meanwhile, all the animal species bring their own behaviour and consequences. Click on a moose, and it might fertilise the soil with poop. Tap on a vole, and you’ll find it munching on tree roots. Foxes hunt, while beavers chop and harvest trees.
You’ll see spiders spin realistic webs that catch mosquitoes and flies. Every action influences how your forest develops over time. Squirrels need trees, butterflies rely on flowers, and wild boars dig up small plants for balance points.
PolyPine lets you terraform freely. You can mold the terrain itself to your liking, whether you prefer hills, fjords, or wetlands. You can even create ponds filled with aquatic life such as perch, stickleback, and pike, surrounded by waterlilies, pondweed, and reeds.
The world in PolyPine isn’t without its challenges. Forest fires, storms, and bark beetle swarms regularly threaten your creation. They force you to adapt or take advantage of nature’s unpredictability.
Dead wood becomes home to new species. On the other hand, mycorrhizal networks built by mushrooms connect tree roots underground, helping the forest share resources and thrive. And the diversity of flora and fauna is awesome, with 42 animals and 35 plants.
