Pub Encounter is the newest addition to Crunchyroll’s Mobile Game Vault. Developed by Dogenzaka Lab, it’s an otome game, a romantic anime visual novel. You go into an old-fashioned pub where you meet a group of middle-aged men.
A new setting to explore
You wander into a bar named Audire, a place with a warm, classy vibe. Inside, you meet some older, sophisticated men. Unlike many otome games that focus on young, almost too-perfect love interests, Pub Encounter centres around older men with more life experience.
The game is developed by the same team behind The Men of Yoshiwara. You’ll notice similarities in the mechanics, the visual novel format and the romantic routes.
Pub Encounter has men with unique stories and personalities. There’s Sanosuke Sawamura, the businessman who hides a deeper side behind his confident lines. Yamato Nishina brings a quiet presence with a mysterious past.
Iori Sazanami is a writer who might be more comfortable with fiction than real-life romance. Akira Kokonoe, the bartender, is gentle and perceptive. He’s used to watching love bloom around him, but unsure how to nurture his own. Finally, there’s Toma Kiriya, an actor with a playful nature.

Pub Encounter offers multiple story routes and endings
Your choices steer the story in different directions, whether toward love, friendship, or unexpected turns. The narrative leans into slice-of-life territory, focusing on emotional development and everyday interactions.
The game has gorgeous illustrations and an equally good soundtrack, along with partial Japanese voice acting. The artwork particularly focuses on the different characters’ eyes to emphasise their age and maturity.
The mobile version of Pub Encounter offers save progress and lets you revisit past scenes. The collectible CGs encourage replayability, so that you can try different choices and endings. If you have a Crunchyroll subscription, get it from the Google Play Store.
