We have had a few half-decent ports or creations of the popular Light Cycle racing game featured in the Tron movies here on Android, but now we’ve got a proper, full-fledged game made for Android that is developed by Rude Boy Games and published by Ayoga Games. Released just over a week ago, LightSpeeder features the same bright neon colors that are so prominent in Tron together with some neat 8-bit graphics.
The drill is simple – your cycle leaves a trail behind, and your job is to stay away from your opponents trail and instead lure them into your trail. The game is not just merely a Light Cycle clone outright, as it has added a few of its own neat touches. There are some handy power-ups to turn the tide to your side, a “jump” button that when correctly-timed can save you from sticky situations and arenas containing traps that should make the game more interesting.

LightSpeeder is available off Google Play for free. As you would’ve expected, there are in-app purchases for the in-game currency, but they’re for getting additional bikes and power-ups, not necessary at all to enjoy the full game. It is pretty good and well-made, so if you’re a fan of all things Tron (specifically the Light Cycle races) or are just curious, then by all means go grab this. I can see where some precious hours are going to waste this week (and maybe even beyond)!
