Build Your Own Power Company from the Ground Up in Reactor 2: Nuclear Tycoon

Reactor – Energy Sector Tycoon, which released in March 2016, garnered quite the attention as an indie game. Now, ten years later, it’s getting a follow-up called Reactor 2: Nuclear Tycoon. The games come from RSGapps, whose other titles include Production Chain Tycoon and Technopoly.

It’s also about running your own energy company, just like the first one

You start off with a few wind turbines, then work your way into running a huge nuclear power network that keeps an entire city alive. You’re managing heat, turning that heat into electricity, and making sure everything stays cool enough to keep producing power.

If things get too hot, production stops until your systems cool down. Luckily, your reactors don’t explode, they don’t wipe out hours of progress, and they don’t force you to start over. They just pause, cool off, and let you figure out a better setup.

As your company gets bigger, you’ll unlock a whole bunch of new technologies through research. The early game covers renewable energy like Solar, Wind, Hydro, and Tidal power. Later on, you’ll move into Nuclear, Fusion, and Arc Reactors. There’s even a sci-fi tier with Antimatter reactors, Black Hole Reactors, and the HyperSpace Core.

The sequel Reactor 2: Nuclear Tycoon adds a living city that actually grows as your energy production increases. Also, there’s a new quest system with chapters and rewards, along with story-driven challenges.

Reactor 2: Nuclear Tycoon is an idle game

It keeps earning resources while you’re away, so you can make progress offline even after closing the game. It also works without an internet connection and is free to play. It comes in refined pixel art and smoother performance.

So, if you’re on the lookout for resource management games, check out Reactor 2: Nuclear Tycoon on the Google Play Store.
