Refind Self Determines Your Personality Type Depending on Your In-Game Choices

feature image for our refind self news, the image features a screenshot from the game's trailer of the main character who looks like a wind-up doll with a clockwork motor on their back as they walk through a town across a stone path, they are walking past a bench, a tree with no leaves, a streetlamp, and a small tori gate in the background, they seem to be approaching a building, there is text across the screen that reads "this game will show you your personality", in the top left of the image there is a heart that is almost halfway full with a percentage of 46% underneath it

A lot of video games these days contain a “make your own choice” feature, which can narratively drive the main storyline in a variety of directions.

It’s not an uncommon addition to modern gaming, but what if those choices determined your overall personality type? Well, Refind Self does just that.

For more information about Refind Self, visit the game’s official website and Steam page.

What is Refind Self?

Refind Self is due to be released on Android, iOS, and PC in November, so you won’t have to wait too long to try it out. Developed by Lizardry and published by PLAYISM, Refind Self is a fairly simplistic game that analyses your actions and choices within the game.

That’s not to say the game doesn’t have depth, but it’s up to you to decide what to do during your playthrough. You choose where to go, who to speak with, and how to respond during conversations.

The Meanings Behind Refind Self

You play as a wind-up doll, a symbolistic way of representing the player robotically finding who they are within the game. Interestingly, in the trailer, the art that displays the different personality types doesn’t feature the clockwork motor.

Featuring charming pixel art, the world of Refind Self is covered with a sepia-toned filter. Whether this was to symbolise a lack of identity before the wind-up doll finds its true self, we don’t know at this current moment.

I’m sure that the philosophical meanings behind certain aspects of the game will be explained once Refind Self is fully released – and I can’t wait to delve into it.

The Personality Types

Just from the short trailer above, it’s clear to see that the game has tons of replayability as you try to work out how to get each personality type. Sage, Merchant, Clown, Craftsman, Brawler, and Philosopher are just some of the personalities included in Refind Self – with many more to discover.
