[Update: Released] Rejoice ye Angry Birds fans! Rovio shall be bringing us thy sequel you’ve always wanted: Angry Birds 2

So Rovio has announced that an official sequel to Angry Birds will be arriving at the end of this month. That’s right Angry Bird fans, you will soon be able to download Angry Birds 2 on July 30th. The announcement originally came via a Tweet (followed by an official blog post) from the official Angry Birds account with a statement of “Bigger. Badder. Birdier. July 30th”. Accompanying the statement was a giant number 2 image with a very angry looking red bird inside the two.

[UPDATE: Thursday, July 30th – 12:31 PM-PST] Rovio has done again! They have released a new Angry Birds game. Angry Birds 2 is now available to download in the Google Play Store. The game is free to play, and does include in-app purchases, if you desire to take advantage of them. The link to download the game can be found at the end of this article.

While Angry Birds has had numerous spin-offs, whether they be movie related ones like Angry Birds Rio or Angry Birds Star Wars, or non-movie themed ones like Angry Birds Seasons, we have had a lot of Angry Birds games already. Surprisingly, none of them are actually considered sequels, not even the ones that break from the standard Angry Birds gameplay like Angry Birds Epic. So why should you get excited for this game?

Well for starters, it looks like Rovio is hinting at possible first-person gameplay with how the very short teaser video the company released plays out. It could also hint at maybe a more realistic looking game visually. Or it could simply be a strange teaser video to get people interested in the sequel. I mean look at how the Angry Birds Fight! trailers were.

Either way we will be finding out pretty quickly what Angry Birds 2 is all about as it will be arriving on July 30th, whether you want it or not. You can also check out the game’s official website for future updates.
