Turn-based RPG and collect-a-thon title Rick and Morty: Pocket Mortys is shutting down. It first launched in 2016 and became one of the most prominent mobile games based on the animated series by Adult Swim.
Talk about irony! 2026 marks both the tenth anniversary and EOS of Rick and Morty: Pocket Mortys
Adult Swim Games has confirmed that the game will shut down permanently on April 13th, 2026. Until that end-of-service date, the game will remain fully playable.
All in-game content has been made free, and you can now encounter every Morty reward in the wild. The title has not been removed from app stores, so you still have access during its remaining lifespan.
Another funny thing is that the devs have effectively removed the item shop barrier, opening up the full roster of content one last time. It’s something that a bunch of players criticised over the years. And it’s now, just when the game is shutting down, that everything is available for free.
Meanwhile, the Rick and Morty universe is also expanding in other directions. Although Rick and Morty: The Anime failed to connect with many viewers, Cartoon Network is moving forward with a new spin-off. It’s based on President Curtis, the President of the United States and Keith David is voicing him.
Played the game?
Rick and Morty: Pocket Mortys leans heavily into parody, borrowing the structure of Pokémon-style collection and battles. You play the role of Rick Sanchez, traveling across dimensions to collect, train, and evolve more than 400 unique Mortys. Each comes with different stats, powers, and abilities.
The campaign revolves around clashes with rival Ricks. Additional modes offer raid boss encounters and other activities inspired directly by the show’s lore. It even includes the Council of Ricks and countless alternate realities colliding into a single storyline.
For one last time, you can get the game from the Google Play Store and try out all the previously-paid content.
