Rovio releases Amazing Alex, their newest physics-based puzzle game

Well it seems Rovio is right on time with their reported release date for Amazing Alex, their newest physics-based puzzle game, being July 12. Although it was reported that it would be a release with a plethora of promotion like that of Angry Birds Space, it actually was a fairly quite release.

The goal in Amazing Alex is pretty simple. Basically you have to make a Rube Goldberg-esque setup each level to accomplish whatever the goal is for that particular level. It’s all about chain reactions and trying to do a simple task with the most complicated setup that you can make. The more creative you are, the better your score.

For Amazing Alex’s release there will be an initial 100 levels to work your way through although you can be sure that number will increase in the future as Rovio pumps out the updates. You will also have the ability to create your own levels and share them amongst other players to see if they can beat them.

Will this be the new Angry Birds in terms of success for Rovio? Maybe but even if it isn’t as big as the Angry Birds franchise, the fact that it has unlimited replay value with user created content makes it pretty regardless of what version you pick up. There is the standard three editions, sort of like Angry Birds Space, with an HD version coming in at $2.99, a normal paid version for $0.99 and a free trial version.
