After more than two decades, RuneScape has dropped the final chapter of its longest-running saga with Eclipse of the Heart. It’s a new quest now available on Android and other platforms. The Desert Saga questline has been weaving together years of lore and ancient prophecies.
It started 24 years ago with the modest task of rescuing Prince Ali. It then grew into a legendary journey through the desert, culminating in a final confrontation that will decide the fate of the world.
What’s Happening in the story?
If you’ve followed it, you must’ve crossed scorching dunes and uncovered hidden truths. And awakened forgotten deities and witnessed betrayals that reshaped Gielinor’s balance of power.
Now, as the shadow of an eclipse hangs heavy over Menaphos, the city trembles under the looming presence of Amascut, the Goddess of Destruction. What happens next depends on you, just like in previous instances.
To begin the Eclipse of the Heart quest, you must meet several RuneScape requirements. You have to cross level 90 Necromancy, level 65 Agility, complete Pharaoh’s Folly, and the Do No Evil quest. You’ll also need to have built the necessary structures for the Fort Forinthry Storyline.
The quest starts in Menaphos, where Pharaoh Leela awaits to discuss a plan to stop Amascut before she consumes the souls under the city. Amascut will arrive as a full boss on August 4th.
What rewards does the Eclipse of the Heart bring to RuneScape?
Completing Eclipse of the Heart will get you a new title and four Stone-Touched XP Lamps, each offering 250,000 XP. Also, there are desert-themed cosmetics for your Lorehound, the Amascut’s Eye skybox override, and upgraded Magic Carpet Dust.
Meanwhile, RuneScape is also running a major gameplay experiment from July 28th to September 30th. Cosmetic-Free Worlds are going to be part of the ongoing MTX Experiment. These special worlds will hide various cosmetic effects, including wardrobe overrides, teleport animations, pets, skilling icons, and hitsplats.
