Square Enix has dropped SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered on mobile and other platforms. Originally launched on the PlayStation in 1999 in Japan and in 2000 in North America and Europe, this remaster brings it back with upgraded visuals and new content.
SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered Is Now Available on Android
SaGa Frontier 2 is set in the world of Sandail, where magic works through a mysterious force called Anima. You mainly follow two characters. Gustave, a royal with zero talent for magic, and William Knights, a young adventurer from a family of diggers who hunt for ancient relics called Quells.
Gustave’s story kicks off when he’s cast out for not being able to use Anima, which is a massive deal in the Kingdom of Finney. Meanwhile, Wil’s journey revolves around unravelling the mystery behind his parents’ death and a relic called the Egg that messes with people’s minds.
SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered has enhanced the original’s graphics to a higher resolution. The watercolour backgrounds are now super crisp. They’ve also redesigned the UI to make it easier to navigate without losing that classic vibe.

What Else Is New?
They’ve also added new stories which fit well into the original plot. The combat system mixes turn-based strategy where you get three types of fights. They are Party Battles, Duels and Warfare. Party Battles are the usual RPG setup, while Duels are one-on-one face-offs where every move counts.
Then there’s Warfare, which is more of a large-scale strategic clash. The combat feels fresh because it doesn’t just throw you into repetitive battles and each type requires a different approach.
Also, they brought back the glimmer system from the first game. It lets you learn new techniques mid-fight, and the combo mechanic that rewards you for chaining attacks with your team. So, check out this remastered version on the Google Play Store.
