Sega announces that Phantasy Star Online 2 will be coming to Android

Sega looks to be continuing their push into the mobile gaming scene with the announcement of yet another game coming our way soon. However, instead of it being a port of a current console game, this new title happens to be their free-to-play JRPG called Phantasy Star Online 2.

Slated for release on PC (Summer 2012) and the PS Vita (Early 2013), this is the newest addition to the Phantasy Star series of games that dates back to the earlier console days. However, this will be different than the online cross-platform multiplayer RPG title which will be coming to the PC and PS Vita. This won’t be the absolute full game though but instead will feature Social game elements, simpler controls and character creation.

While the PC and Vita versions will offer cross-platform gameplay, the iOS and Android versions will just share data between those two versions. What exactly does this mean? From the sounds of it, this means you will be able to play a fair amount of Phantasy Star Online 2 on your Android device but it will be all solo gameplay. Anything you do in the game, however, will be shared with the PC and Vita versions depending on which one you play. So if you complete 5 quests on your Android device, that information and progression will be saved to the actual online game itself.

So when can you expect to get some good Phantasy Star Online 2 gaming on your Android device? The mobile version of the game is expected to be released sometime between the PC and PS Vita versions so basically anytime between this Summer and early next year.
