ZOO Corporation, a Japanese game studio, has just dropped a new game on Android. It’s called SETTRIS, and by the name, you must’ve already guessed it’s like Tetris. If you like slow-paced puzzle challenges, then you might want to know more about this one.
Is it just another block puzzle game?
Well, honestly, maybe. But at the same time, Settris has its own rhythm and depth. It lets you zone out and take your time figuring out how to fill up every square on the board with the oddly shaped blocks.
You place the polyomino-style blocks into a grid to complete each puzzle. You can rotate and flip the pieces. The early puzzles are simple enough, but once you’re a few levels in, the challenges become tougher. There’s no hint system built into the game, so you’ll need to rely on trial and error.
Settris is split into two main modes
There is Stage Mode and Time Attack Mode. Stage Mode is the more chilled option and has 80 puzzles in total. Each stage gives you a board and a fixed set of pieces to fit into it with no leftover spaces. As you move on, the blocks get more unusual and the board layouts become less forgiving.
Time Attack Mode gives you a limited amount of time to solve as many puzzles as possible. There are three difficulty tiers depending on how many blocks each puzzle gives you, including three, four, or five.
You’ll need to solve ten puzzles in five minutes on each difficulty to grab the associated achievements. The game randomly shuffles which puzzles appear in Time Attack, so over time, you’ll start recognising patterns and figuring out quicker solutions.
