Shin Chan: Shiro & the Coal Town has landed on Android through the Crunchyroll Game Vault. It’s a slice-of-life adventure which originally came out in Japan for Nintendo Switch in February 2024. It later dropped worldwide on Switch and PC in October 2024. And now, it’s finally out on mobile.
Shin Chan: Shiro & Coal Town Is a Mysterious Anime Adventure
The game kicks off with the Nohara family relocating to a peaceful village in Akita Prefecture after Hiroshi gets a job near his hometown. They end up renting a classic Japanese farmhouse and settle into the quiet countryside life.
Early on, Shinnosuke, aka Shin Chan, gets to explore the joys of rural living with his grandfather Ginnosuke. You’ll be spending your mornings and evenings fishing in Akita’s rivers, catching bugs in the groves, and learning how to farm with grandma.
One day, Shiro, the family dog, suddenly turns up covered in soot and sprints off. Naturally, Shin Chan chases after him, which leads to a mysterious train that wasn’t there before. One accidental ride later, and he finds himself in Coal Town.
Take a look at Shin chan: Shiro & Coal Town below.
Coal Town feels like it’s been frozen since the Showa era
In Coal Town, you’ll find bustling workers, retro vibes, and a new set of activities. The place is very different from the calm countryside. There’s a kid’s park, diner, shops, restaurants, and an apartment block. Some of it you can interact with, some of it’s just background.
It’s also where you meet Yuri, a young inventor who recruits your help to gather materials for her experiments. She’s trying to make life better for the townsfolk. But then her older brother, Chuck, shows up. He tries to create a ‘waste-free’ system which ends up making everyone’s life hell. So, you have to help Yuri stop Chuck and bring balance back to Coal Town.
