Sleepy Stork has landed on Android today. It’s a simple physics-based puzzler by Tim Kretz (publishing as Moonstripes). The indie studio’s list of previous games includes Window Wiggle, Butterfly Surprise, Dots and Bubbles and Human Flag.
Dream with the Sleepy Stork
You play as a stork who randomly falls asleep mid-flight during its migration south. From that moment on, your mission is to help the floppy, unconscious bird reach its bed. That’s it.
There are over 100 levels, and each one throws in a new set of physics-based obstacles that you have to work around. Tap this, drop that, remove a barrier here to gently bounce or slide the bird toward a soft landing.
Sleepy Stork finds new ways to make the journey harder, especially after the first dozen levels. You’ll be blocked with tiles of all kinds of shapes and sizes as hurdles.
What sets Sleepy Stork apart from other puzzle games is its dream angle. Every time your stork finally hits the bed, it starts dreaming. There’s a different one for each level, complete with interpretations.
For instance, did you know that seeing a lion in your dream symbolises challenges and conflicts you face once you wake up from your sleep? Or that a dream about a toilet indicates that you should let go of negative emotions. Weird!
It’s a comedy, in a good way
The game leans into the comedy of its physics, too. Sometimes the stork just lies there, totally motionless, while the world keeps tossing it around like a doll. It’s funny to see a big bird get yeeted across the screen by a random bouncing platform.
