Squad Busters 2.0 Is Landing on Android Just Before Turning One!

Squad Busters is turning one, and Supercell is rolling out its update 2.0. The game’s biggest overhaul yet drops on May 13th. Since its 2024 launch, the game hasn’t been able to garner the following that the devs aimed for. So, with 2.0, are things going to change?

This Isn’t Just a Tweak or Two

Squad Busters 2.0 is kind of a reboot, just like the name suggests. From how battles work to how victories are claimed, the game is shifting gears completely.

The biggest change is in the heroes. Now, you’ll be choosing a Hero to lead the charge. These Heroes are drawn from existing characters, and if your Hero gets knocked out, you lose.

Another major change is how attacks work. You don’t need to stop moving to fight anymore. Movement and combat are now tied together, making matches more frantic, aggressive, and chaotic.

Victory conditions are changing, too. Instead of wiping out everyone on the board, you only need to take down the enemy Hero. Some players are side-eyeing this since it looks like a switch to a Brawl Stars spin-off with extra steps!

Squad Busters 2.0 Is Dumping a Lot of Old Features

Modes like Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder are all getting axed. Some old skins and progression systems are out too, with Supercell planning to hand out Hero Points and other items as compensation.

Take a look at the Squad Busters 2.0 update video below.

It’s not hard to see why Supercell is making these changes so fast. Squad Busters hasn’t really hit the Clash of Clans or Brawl Stars level of popularity.

With this big update and the first anniversary right around the corner on May 29th, Supercell is clearly hoping to reignite interest. There’s even a set of daily piñata events starting soon to celebrate, and they’ll include chances to unlock a new Hero, Mortis.
