Steam for Android gets updates, IBF Program’s app back on the market

Valve has released an update for their Steam for Android mobile application. The update brings a few changes, some new little features and better application stability just to name a few things. The IBF Programs Steam application is also back on the market under a new name.

First, here is the full changelog regarding the update for Steam on Android:

– Improved application stability, integrated latest Android compatibility library.
– Enabled hardware acceleration on Honeycomb+ devices.
– Added support for links in chat.
– Exposed settings for customizing chat and marking messages as read.
– Added support for Czech and Thai languages in 1.0.3; Bulgarian, Danish, Dutch, Greek, Hungarian, Norwegian, Polish, Turkish in 1.0.2
– Support for store and community browsing on older Android 2.1 devices.
– The Beta is now open to all registered Steam accounts.

For those of you using the official Steam app, the update is available right now on the Android Market so feel free to run that update. For those of you who dug the IBF Programs’ 3rd party Steam application, there is some good news as well. It appears as though the app is back on the market but sporting a new name. We are guessing that this is why it was pulled, along with many others, off of the Android Market when the official Steam application was released.

The IBF Programs 3rd party app for Steam, now called Vapor for Android, pretty much does the same thing as the official application for the most part (with some exceptions) but has a different user interface. The other thing regarding Vapor for Android is that your Steam profile must be public since this app uses the public Steam API to scrape the information it needs. If you liked this app better than the official one, you can nab it off the Android Market for free.
