Tapjoy launches the Tapjoy Android Fund. $5 million available for developers.

After getting squeezed out of the iOS platform by Apple after they changed their rules and regulations over promotions of games and apps, Tapjoy has turned it’s focus solely on Android now. However, in a move that basically give Apple the finger, they have opened up the Tapjoy Android fund.

This fund, which just opened, is to help iOS developers port their games over to the Android platform. Currently the Tapjoy Android Fund has a total amount of $5 million dollars which, considering other developer funds out there, is a pretty small amount. For small developers though on iOS, a whole lot of money isn’t really needed to cover expenses while you port your game over to Android.

If you are not familiar with what Tapjoy does, here is the quick and dirty explination. Essentially they offer a pay-per-install program where users get incentives to download and install other apps/games through Tapjoy integrated games. An example of this is in a current slot machine game on the market where you download the main app which comes with two free slot machines. You can earn points by downloading other games or apps through this main application (hub if you will) and earn more free slot machines to play.

The Tapjoy Android Fund will give various benefits to developers who get accepted into the fund that will be bringing their games to Android. Some benefits include working capital, developing/porting services as well as help with distribution. They will also help developers by testing their games and helping them be compatible with as many Android devices as possible.

If you are interested in becoming a part of this fund, you just need to head over to the official fund website linked below and follow the instructions to apply.
