[Updated] Terraria confirmed to be coming to mobile this Summer

The rather popular side-scrolling sandbox game Terraria has been officially announced as coming to mobile platforms this Summer. The game looks to be published onto Android and iOS by 505 Games and while there was no specific platforms mentioned in the announcement, so hopefully it means both Android and iOS will be getting Terraria when it is released.

This isn’t the first time we’ve talked about Terraria coming to Android. Awhile back there was an unofficial port of the game being worked on which never made it to light due to copyright and licensing issues. Eventually the developer changed the game enough and renamed it but it still never made it to release.

The development of the mobile version is being done by Codeglue while the publishing will be handled by 505 Games who already has one game on Google Play already, so that is a positive sign that the official Terraria mobile game has a good chance of landing on Android as well. Right now there is no specific launch date, just that it is coming this Summer.

Update: June 3rd, 2013 10:45am PST: Just a quick update that Android has been confirmed to be one of the platforms to be getting the mobile version of Terraria. Since mobile is a general term, we just wanted to make sure that it is clarified as coming to Android.
