Feral Interactive has rolled out a major update for Total War MEDIEVAL II. This new update on Android expands both its multiplayer and combat mechanics. It’s the Hotseats and Halberds update that’s bringing some exciting new stuff to Total War MEDIEVAL II.
The desktop version of Kingdoms is making its first appearance on mobile
The best addition that Hotseats and Halberds brings to Total War MEDIEVAL II Mobile is the inclusion of Hotseat multiplayer. Once limited to the Kingdoms expansion on desktop, it’s now accessible on both the Kingdoms campaigns and the Grand Campaign on mobile for the first time.
You can pass a single device between turns, each commanding the chosen faction. There’s support for both cooperative and competitive play. There’s even a Battle Royale mode that brings some alternate victory conditions.
Another mechanics introduced in the update is the new Cohesion system for Pikemen. In the past, these units would crumble as soon as a few soldiers swapped out their pikes for swords. Now, unless they suffer heavy casualties, they’ll keep the long weapons braced and maintain formation much more effectively.
Halberdiers have also received adjustments so that they function as a true late-era alternative to traditional spearmen. The changes enhance their utility, especially in countering heavily armoured foot soldiers.
Zweihanders and other two-handed weapon units like Daneaxe wielders and club-bearing infantry have their stats tweaked too. They’ve been given the new cohesion-disruption trait and combat buffs.
More complete than ever
Gunpowder units such as Arquebusiers and Musketeers have often lagged behind crossbowmen and archers. Their fire-by-rank behaviour previously slowed them down significantly. So now, they’ve had key firing mechanics refined.
Naval adjustments are also part of the patch, including changes to the movement speed of late-era ships. Meanwhile, several late medieval knight units without shields have their defense values rebalanced. Ribault artillery joins the list of tweaked units too.
