Trial By Viking is an upcoming action platformer that you will want to play

While there may be plenty of side-scrolling platformers on mobile these days, there are not a whole lot that would fit into the category of ones that you will want to play over and over. However there is one that is heading our way soon that, from what we have seen so far, looks like it would fit into that category quite nicely.

This new game is called Trial By Viking and just like the name suggests, you will be playing as a viking in a world of Norse Gods. This is a side-scrolling action platformer with puzzles that you will need to solve along the way and it even has RPG elements layered onto it. If this hasn’t caught your interest yet, then maybe the fact that Trial By Viking also features a similar decision making narrative like you would find in a TellTale Games title. Round everything off with some solid visuals and you have a title with a lot of potential to be a big hit.

Here is a rundown of what the storyline in Trial By Viking is about:

You are a proud viking working as an agent of Odin in the worlds of the gods. You have been taught your entire life to follow the word of Odin, but right and wrong aren’t always so black and white. Does Odin go too far to prevent an already destined future?

Along the way you will have plenty of interesting adventures and events happen to you such as morphing into a polar bear, riding on the claws of a great owl like a zip line, steer a flying Valkyrie through mazes of hazards,  and even fight a Kraken in a swimming pool. Of course this is just a sample. There will also be some voice acting in the game from Erik Braa who’s previous work includes Jax/Draven in League of Legends and Telltale’s Walking Dead.

Trial By Viking is still currently in development but it will be coming to Android in the near future. We plan to go hands-on with it over at GDC 2015 in a few weeks so expect some additional coverage and gameplay footage coming your way soon. In the meantime, we do have some screenshots to share.
