Twitch Prime is now a thing and is available in select regions

As many of you are probably aware, Amazon bought Twitch not too long ago for a cool $970 million and has since kept their hands on the game streaming company. One feature many people have been wanting has apparently been the ability for their Amazon Prime membership to count towards their Twitch Turbo membership. Well, as of today, that has become a reality in a few regions.

Twitch Turbo, for those of you not familiar with this, is a payment that Twitch offers that gives users perks, just like subscribing to a particular streamer in some ways, but site-wide instead. Subscribing to a streamer does net you more perks than a Turbo subscription, but it remains only with that particular streamer, while Twitch Turbo grants people benefits regardless of who they are watching at the time, such as no commercials and special emotes.

If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you now will also have a Twitch Turbo membership, but it will be called Twitch Prime instead. Like we just said, this will automatically be included with your Amazon Prime membership if you have an account over on Twitch, or if you don’t have one on Twitch, you can make one and sync it up to your Amazon Prime account to get all the benefits.

“We wanted to give you something filled with lots of cool free stuff that would make Twitch fans happy. We wanted to make it like a secret level that unlocks the best parts of Twitch and the best parts of Amazon, where members would feel like total bosses. So that’s what we did!”

“As a Twitch Prime member, you get free game loot every month, like instant access to the newest Hearthstone hero, Tyrande Whisperwind, or the new indie game, Streamline. You also receive discounts on new-release box games sold by Amazon during the pre-order period and for the first two weeks after launch. And on Twitch, once you link your Amazon Prime account to your Twitch account, you get an ad-free viewing experience, exclusive emotes and chat badge, and one free channel subscription every 30 days.” – Twitch’s Robin Fontaine

An Amazon Prime membership runs $99/year (or $10.99/month), and now you’ll get the benefits of that alongside a Twitch Prime membership. To celebrate the launch of Twitch Prime, the company has a few cool events going on. First, there is a 6-week long Hearthstone event where the top Hearthstone players will be playing exhibition matches, talking you through the meta game, and more. Also during the event, Twitch Prime members get the newest Hearthstone hero, Tyrande Whisperwind, the Night Elf Priestess, for free.

The other event that Twitch will also be running is a GameChanger Charity Event. Twitch Prime will donate $100,000 to GameChanger for every 100,000 new subscriptions to any channel on Twitch. This is regardless as to whether new subscriptions are using the Twitch Prime free subscription or not. This charity event will run from Friday, September 30 to October 5th, 2016, and will cap out at $1 Million.

If you live in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, or Spain, and have an Amazon Prime membership and a Twitch account, you now have Twitch Prime. If you don’t have an Amazon Prime account, you can get one now and get Twitch Prime.
