Union of Gnomes, HeroCraft Games’ PC rogue-like deckbuilding game, is now out on Android. It brings a twisted narrative to the classic fairy tales. It rewrites Snow White with the subtlety of a gnome swinging a frying pan. That’s shocking!
Yes, Snow White is the villain here!
You enter the game in the middle of a kingdom in full revolt. The gnomes are part of an uprising aimed squarely at Snow White’s oppressive rule.
Three gnome heroes are the central characters with their own traits, decks, and special abilities. Picking one sets starts your run. The rest of your squad is built by freeing gnome comrades who join the rebellion as you progress.
You get a massive library of 130 cards, where green cards heal or buff and red cards punish enemies. There are 24 effects which include poisoning foes, blinding them, and weakening them, among others.
The premise of Union of Gnomes unfolds across 6 acts of revolutionary misadventure. There are quirky quests, hidden stories, and an elaborate campaign that pushes you through forests and cursed paths.
Union of Gnomes mixes rebellion and fairy tales
Enemies range from Red Hood to Wizard of Oz to Pinocchio, and eventually Snow White herself. All of these otherwise heroic and good-hearted characters have been reimagined as obstacles in the gnome uprising. You get 19 fairy tale–inspired bosses and dozens of regular enemies.
Your heroes travel with a precious supply of wieners, the game’s oddly central resource. Starved gnomes pass out, thinning your active squad and shrinking your tactical options. So, don’t collect so many gnomes that you can’t afford to feed them all.
It’s the story mode, through which you face the bosses and battle it out. In case you finish the story or simply crave more experimentation, Union of Gnomes has a solution. It’s the Neverending Nightmare mode. Grab the game from the Google Play Store if you want.
