Unity3D for Android Pre-Sales

Unity3D is a great 3D engine made for game developer to use in the creation of their 3D games. This engine covers everything from browser based MMORPGs to PC games, iPhone/iPad to console games and not so long ago announced it would be supporting Android game development with an Android version of their engine. It was just announced that pre-sales will be starting shortly.

We reported awhile ago that Unity3D would be bringing their great 3D engine to Android and with that came cross-platform support as well. Unity3D just celebrated their 5 year birthday on June 7, 2010 and currently going on right now is Boston Unity Day which is where the announcement about pre-sales for Unity3D for Android and pricing just happened. Pre-sales will start in a couple of weeks with the pricing the same as the iPhone version. Pricing is as follows:

Unity 3DFree

Unity 3D Pro$1200

Asset Server Client License+$500

iPhone+$300

iPhone Pro+$1200

Full Feature comparison can be found on the Untiy3D licenses page which you will definitely want to check out should you consider purchasing this engine.

So Android and Android Pro will be the same price. You can do a lot of interesting things with Unity3D as well including syncing up your Android phone to control the game on a big screen.

Feel a little overwhelmed by Unity3D or new to it? Another great thing about Unity3D is the support. They have an entire website dedicated to game development with Unity3D called Infinite Unity3D that has over 170,000 members with a vast majority of them game developers to help out. They also have various Tools and Libs packages for you to get as well as forums and tutorials to help you learn the ropes.

You can check out a few of the videos from Infinite Unity3D showing some demos of Android and Unity 3D working together. You’ll also get to see a Terga 2 Android tablet in action running a Unity3D Demo. I will be updating this post as more news about the features for Unity Android become available today. Can’t wait to see some killer 3D games using Unity3D for Android.
