What Android Games We Are Playing This Week: 7/9 – 7/13

Getting back into the swing of things with the What We Are Playing This Week series, today we have a couple of games for you that you might want to check out as well if you haven’t already. So let’s just jump right into it shall we?

Strikefleet Omega

Name: Strikefleet Omega | Developer: 6waves | Genre: Arcade & Action | Players: 1 | Version: 1.2.0g | Size: 48 MB | Price: Free |

When I first saw the graphics of Strikefleet Omega it reminded me of the some of the old space cartoons I watched as a kid in the 1980’s. This game is packed with a ton of stuff. Your mission is to take the fleet out and stop the Hive Queen from destroying our colonies. The game is very simple to play. You simply swipe your finger on the screen where you want your fighters to go and intercept the incoming bad guys. You definitely cannot take your eyes off the screen! It can be fast and furious at time but it is a lot of fun.

The game has 2 modes, campaign or survival. In campaign mode, you move from system to system and complete the missions. There are six types of ships and each has its own purpose. All ships can be upgraded and have “perks” added such as stronger artillery, potential to earn more bonuses, health regeneration and more. As you complete missions, you earn alloy and MegaCreds which can be used to purchase these upgrades in the game. You can also purchase them via in app purchases. The game has great graphics, a neat story line tied into the game and tons of in game achievements. For a free game it is awesome and will provide a lot of enjoyable game play.

BraveSmart

Name: BraveSmart | Developer: Flaregames | Genre: Brain & Puzzle | Players: 1 | Version: 2.0.1 | Size: 31 MB | Price: Free |

BraveSmart is a fun and challenging puzzle game. It looks simple but really isn’t. You are a smart Scotsmen in the Middle Ages and your job is to build up the town. Different levels will require different buildings to be made. To build a structure you simply combine 3 items together. Combine three wood, metal or rock tiles to build a cottage, three cottages for a mansion, right up to castles. You only have so much space to work in, thus you need to try and plan ahead to where your buildings will be put.

The game reminds me a lot of Triple Town, which I mentioned in a past posting. The graphics are cute and the Scottish music really adds to the whole experience. The game has 3 sections and 12 levels per section and you need to earn enough stars to unlock the higher levels. It looks like more levels will be coming too. Overall I really like the game. I have not gotten super far yet because it hard to get through some levels. No as you progress you earn in game coins which you can turn in for “helps”. You can also use in app purchases to get coins. If you like puzzles, try this game a try.
