The third Yu-Gi-Oh MASTER DUEL Shadow Duelist tournament just wrapped up, and it has something to do with actor Dylan Sprouse. With the ending came the unmasking of one of the most mysterious characters to appear in the series.
The blood-red mask hiding the identity of Baron Bloodthorne has finally been lifted. It’s actor and producer Dylan Sprouse, who’s known for his roles on television and in video games. Sprouse took part in the final act of the tournament as a celebrity cameo and as someone who clearly knew his way around a Duel Disk.
It’s a good one!
Baron Bloodthorne had teased his arrival on Yu-Gi-Oh!’s social media for days, dropping cryptic hints. The clues weren’t subtle for anyone familiar with Sprouse’s career.
References to a life in the public eye, being born near Transylvania, and confusing gods in Norway pointed towards him. A few players even connected the dots between the high seas clue and his part in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
So, during the final broadcast on June 26th, the tournament champion faced off against Sprouse (in his alter ego Baron Bloodthorne). The 2025 Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel Shadow Duelist winner received the Bloodthorne mask, signed by Dylan Sprouse.
As Shadow Duelists go, Sprouse left an impression. Not just for the theatrics, but for actually being invested in the game. He ran a Labrynth deck and looked completely at home with it.
Sprouse also spoke candidly during the tournament about growing up with Yu-Gi-Oh!. He reminisces about battling his brother Cole in elementary school, trading cards, and watching the show. Take a look at the reveal here!
In previous Shadow Duelist appearances, names like WWE’s Xavier Woods and singer Zayn Malik have taken up the mask and duelled. But only a few showed the same level of familiarity with the cards themselves.

Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL continues to offer these kinds of crossover and tournament events with a bit of mystery and showmanship. With more than 10,000 cards, the game also has a Solo Mode for single players. And it also boasts 4K resolution visuals.
