Zombie Blast Crew is a Arcade Style Shooter with Zombies

11 long months have passed since an illness swept the world, transforming its victims into slavering, bloodthirsty zombies.

The survivors have fled to the hills. Literally. The cities they left behind are now teeming with undead monsters. Ominously, the army has failed to show up, and so you’ve decided to take matters into your own hands.

That’s the setup for Zombie Blast Crew, the latest polished arcade title from Vivid Games, whose name you might recognise from Space Pioneer or Real Boxing.

The gameplay involves venturing out onto the streets of a devastated city and killing zombies. It’s not quite that simple, of course. There are several different objectives, from recovering caches of ammunition to rescuing civilians.

You have one hero at your disposal to start with, but as you finish missions and earn XP you’ll unlock four others. Each hero has its own unique weapon, from a shotgun to a flamethrower, and on top of that they can all carry a customizable loadout into battle containing grenades, or mines, or various other items of deadly ordnance.

During missions you collect coins, and whenever you complete a mission you get upgrade cards to spend on upgrading your hero, your weapons, and your gear, keeping you one step ahead of the zombies in the apocalyptic arms race.

You need to choose your upgrades and your loadouts with care, since Zombie Blast Crew is more tactically demanding than appearances may suggest.

Zombies come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and all of the different types have unique attack and movement patterns. Some might lend themselves to being picked off at range by an assault rifle, while others naturally invite immolation at the point of a flamethrower.

If progress through the single player campaign isn’t enough to sharpen your focus, there’s also a leaderboard-based challenge mode in which you compete with other players to fend off waves of zombies, kill as many as you can within a time limit, and more.

Zombie Blast Crew is available on Google Play and the App Store right now.
