Zombie Driver THD gets a release date, coming on October 17th

Last November, we published an article here entitled “Exor Studios will be unleashing Zombie Driver THD onto Tegra 3 Android devices soon”. Well, that ‘soon’ has come, albeit belatedly almost a year later. It is slated for an October 17 launch in tandem with the game’s release on other platforms like Steam and Xbox Live Arcade.

The price of the game has also been revealed – US$6.99. Some may consider this a little too steep for a mobile game, so the onus is on the developers to provide a varied gameplay experience to justify the price-point. Judging by the game’s features listed below, there are three main game modes, so in theory the developers should have that covered.

Zombie Driver THD’s features:

– Epic story campaign with 31 diverse missions featuring boss fights, night missions, special vehicles and more…
– Blood Race mode with 30 unique events offering the best arcade racing experience in 3 distinct game types:
* Race – classic racing spiced up with guns and loads of zombies
* Eliminator – take down as many vehicles as you can before the time runs out
* Endurance – there is a bomb on your car and its ticking. Race through checkpoints to extend your time
– Survive endless zombie waves on 7 twisted slaughter arenas
– Drive 13 insane zombie killing machines including a school bus, a fire truck, a bulldozer or even a tank
– 9 different upgrades, which can transform an innocent Taxi into a Chariot of Death
– Vehicle mounted weapons including miniguns, flamethrowers, rocket launchers or even dual railguns
– All weapons have 3 upgrade levels which come with unique features
– Dynamic combo system with tricks to help fight off the hordes of zombies
– PhysX by NVIDIA

The game will support Tegra phones and tablets at launch, with some extras like more destructible objects for Tegra 3 devices. There is no real word on when – if at all – the game will launch for all Android devices. One good thing is that a wide-range of control mechanisms will be supported, including two variations of on-screen controls, gamepad and keyboard input.
