Qualcomm brings forth the Game Pack for Android phones with the Snapdragon chip in them

Qualcomm has really fired up their whole push with Android gaming as of late. Their newest announcement comes during Uplinq 2011 which started today and is a ‘Game Pack’ which will feature a slew of titles from a few top game developers that are optimized for their Snapdragon chipset.

The game pack will feature around 73 titles from developers such as Glu, Gameloft, Namco, Digital Chocolate, Natural Motion, Polarbit, Guild Software and more and the number of games is slated to increase even more. Basically Game Pack is a tool to showcase games optimized for Snapdragon chips, sort of like the Tegra Zone store. This move is in direct competition with nVidia so this whole battle of the chip manufacturers is only going to heat up even more. You can be sure that games exclusive to devices such as the Xperia Play or furute Qualcomm chip, like the dual-core ones slowly making their way into Android devices now, will be featured in this new app.

One game that a lot of people will be happy to hear that will support the Snapdragon chip that is currently exclusive to Tegra 2 is Vendetta Online from Guild Software. If you are unfamiliar with Vendetta Online, it is a space themed MMORPG similar to the likes of Eve Online. Currently exclusive to Tegra 2 tablets, Guild Software will be expanding it’s support to Snapdragon tablets as well. We keep saying tablets because due to the menu system, Vendetta Online is only geared towards tablets. It will probably remain that way as well unless they figure out a way where the user interface will work well on a phone.

This will also more than likely come pre-installed on future Android devices that happen to come with Qualcomm chips. No word yet on when this will be released but you can expect a lot of AR games. From the sounds of it though, it will only be major game development companies being showcase in the Game Pack, at least to start. The massive full press release is below with all the details you could want.
