Bent Spoon Games to release their first title “Girl with a Heart of” on Android on November 17th

We like indie games as much as we like the big named titles as well and Bent Spoon Games will be offering up a pretty unique game called Girl with a Heart of this November on multiple platforms including Android. When it comes to indie games, you can always expect something unique and this is no exception.

Girl with a Heart of is a unique game that follows the story of a little girl named Raven who is 11 years old who was seperated from her parents during an attack from the Light’s army. Raven’s people happen to be subterranean people who live in a city called Underfoot. It turns out that Raven plays a critical role in this conflict between the two races due to her artificial heart. The whole back story is actually really interesting and would be something you would find in a novel.

In fact that must have been what Bent Spoon Games was thinking when they made this game because they are calling it an “interactive narrative” which reminds me of those choose-your-own-adventure type of books from back in the day. Although this is an interactive narrative, it does play a little like an RPG since you are controlling a character and talking to the inhabitants of Underfoot. Just like a choose-your-own-adventure book, the choices you make in Girl with a Heart of influence the reactions of others and determines how the story unfolds.

One last thing to mention about this game is the style of graphics that come with it. Instead of the usual computer rendered feeling you get with most games, whether 2D or 3D, in Girl with a Heart of the graphics have a more hand-painted feel to it making it more of an art forms or a graphic novel than a game.

You can expect to find Girl with a Heart of on the Android Market for $2.99 this November 17th, 2011. It will also be available on iOS for the same price on the same date as well as on the PC and Mac for $5.99 in case you feel like playing it on your laptop as well. You can see the game in action in the video trailer above and find out more about the story in the full press release below.

Interactive Narrative Girl with a Heart of Coming November 17 from Bent Spoon Games

Thought-provoking parable will be playable on PC, Mac, iOS, and Android

Independent video game developer Bent Spoon Games will release its commercial debut, Girl with a Heart of, on November 17. An interactive narrative that explores concepts of human rationality and recursive self-improvement, Girl with a Heart of will be playable on PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices.

Set in Underfoot, a subterranean city inhabited by the Dark race, Girl with a Heart of is the story of Raven, an eleven-year-old girl separated from her parents during a vicious attack by the Light’s army. As her city’s last defenses slowly crumble and her sense of normalcy is stripped away, Raven learns that she plays a critical role in this global conflict due to her unusual, artificial heart. Now she must learn to harness her newly acquired power and make a series of choices that will have life-altering consequences beyond her little town.

Girl with a Heart of is an interactive narrative that progresses as Raven converses with the inhabitants of her multi-level city. During these conversations, the player is confronted with choices that influence other characters’ reactions and determine the flow of the story. The “correct” choices are not always straightforward; decisions that seem good can actually be detrimental and players must use rationality and logic to succeed. The unfolding narrative is accompanied by stylized graphics that depict a world where darkness, not light, is the primary life source.

“When you continuously try to improve yourself — and, by doing this, continuously get better at improving yourself — no boundary can hold you back. That’s what recursive self-improvement and Girl with a Heart of are all about,” explains Alexei Andreev, the game’s developer and founder of Bent Spoon Games. “Once the player begins to understand how this works in the game, it almost feels like cheating — like an instant win. But it’s actually a prelude to the hardest decision you’ll have to make.”

Girl with a Heart of will be sold via digital distribution for $5.99 on desktop platforms (PC, Mac) and $2.99 on mobile platforms (iOS, Android). More details, including an announcement trailer and in-game screenshots, can be found at: http://www.bentspoongames.com/gwh
