Yesterday we reported on news that Rovio and their Angry Birds Franchise had been downloaded over a billion times across all platforms and game titles. Along with this announcement was a Thank You video from Rovio which we suspected to be teasing a new game based around Casey’s Contraptions, a popular iOS title.
Rovio has now confirmed that they have indeed bought the IP for Casey’s Contraptions and will be making a new game based off of that IP. This will most likely not be an Angry Birds tie-in since they have ownership of the IP. Instead this will be a new game that isn’t based around the Angry Birds universe.
Working with (the developers) Noel and Miguel has been fantastic, and this is a game that we all fell in love with from the first play. The gameplay is a perfect fit in our arsenal with its approachable, fun and highly addictive take on the physics puzzler genre. – Rovio’s Ville Heijari, VP of franchise development said to TechCrunch.
Currently Rovio is working on re-branding the game and getting it ready to re-introduce it back to the mobile gaming population. Of course Rovio is also planning another massive launch just like they did with Angry Birds Space. No word just yet on when that launch will happen.
