While of the more popular platform shooters from back in the day has been the Contra series of games. CocoaChina/Chukong have secured the rights to publish the game worldwide from Konami, making this the first fully licensed mobile version on a Contra game. Contra Evolution has been out since January in China but now that the rights to publish worldwide have been secured it will be coming to the US soon.
Contra Evolution is a complete remake of the original Contra game but for mobile devices. For those of you who like technical fact, the entire game was developed using the open-source cross-platform 2D game development engine Cocos2d-x.
Right now there isn’t a whole lot of details as to what will come with Contra Evolution but since the game has been remade from the ground up we can guess the graphics have gotten a bit of an update. We can also assume that all the original content will come with this release but as for anything extra, we don’t know just yet about anything.
iOS will be getting the game first on June 27th, 2013 while Android gamers will have to wait a little longer since the Android release is simply marked as ‘coming soon’.
