Sony is Ending Support of PlayStation Mobile On Android Devices

PlayStation mobile support on Android platforms is ending. While the service will continue to run on KitKat (OS 4.4.2) or under along with the PS Vita itself, use of PlayStation Mobile on devices with a higher OS will not be likely.

Also worth noting is that Android L, the upcoming OS, will not support PlayStation Mobile because Sony will no longer be giving devices PlayStation Certification. The hope, for Sony, is that the developers who did use PlayStation Mobile will shift their focus over to developing games for the PlayStation Vita.

As someone who never played a PlayStation Mobile game, I’m not too upset about this turn of events. I love my PS Vita, and if this means there will be more games on Vita then this is a good thing. I doubt that this will give Vita the amount of games it deserves though.
