BAFTA Award nominees announced. Multiple mobile games nominated for awards.

The beginning of each year is when a lot of the different companies who give out awards in the video game industry announce their nominees, open up public voting for People’s Choice awards, and eventually hold their ceremonies to give out the awards to the winners. With the IMGA awards well under way, the BAFTA awards nominees have been announced today and there are multiple mobile games showing up this year, some of which have multiple nominations for different awards.

If you are not familiar with what BAFTA is, it stands for The British Academy of Film and Television Arts and every year they hold the British Academy Games Awards. The BAFTA awards are pretty big and continue to grow each year, sort of like mobile gaming. In fact this year there are a decent amount of mobile games being nominated for a variety of awards. In fact Monument Valley is nominated for five awards (Artistic Achievement, Best Game, British Game, Mobile & Handheld and Original Property), 80 Days is nominated for four awards (British Game, Game Innovation, Mobile & Handheld and Story), and there are multiple mobile games getting between 2-3 nominations.

Needless to say it is a pretty big year for mobile games over at the BAFTA Awards. At a quick glance there is at least 17 mobile games getting nominated for various awards. Most of these games are also appearing as nominees for the IMGA awards as well, whether it be for their award categories or the People’s Choice award. There are games such as Hearthstone, Hitman GO, Threes!, Valiant Hearts, The Wolf Among Us, and Skylanders Trap Team just to name a few.

You can follow all of the updates about the awards over at the BAFTA website. The actual ceremony will take place on Thursday, March 12th, 2015 and will be available to watch live on Twitch TV.
