Square Enix reveals a release date for their upcoming Lara Croft GO mobile game

During E3 2015 Square Enix announced a new mobile Lara Croft game that would be heading to mobile devices soon called Lara Croft GO. Well today the company has announced that Lara Croft GO is pretty much ready to go and will be arriving later this month.

For those of you who missed our previous E3 2015 coverage, Lara Croft GO is a new mobile game themed around the Tomb Raider main character that has been designed and development by the same folks behind the popular Hitman GO game. Using a turn-based style of gameplay, players will be trying to solve puzzles, avoid hazards, and find loot while trying to get through each level.

Unfortunately Square Enix has really felt like expanding on exactly what all will arrive when Lara Croft GO launches. However, today the company did announce a specific release date for Lara Croft Go which is August 27th, 2015, for all mobile platforms for free. In the meantime, Square Enix is holding an artist contest to support the Child’s Play charity.

Artists can submit their entries of Lara Croft GO inspired artwork and, if selected, the Top 10 will be showcased during the Lara Croft GO party at PAX Prime as well as receive exclusive prizes. The Top 3 entries from the final 10 will be auctioned off with proceeds going to Child’s Play Charity. If you are interested in participating in this, you can read the contest rules here and you will need to submit your article to [email protected] . Official contest website and additional information is available here.

We’ll post an update once Lara Croft Go is released onto Google Play. You can watch the original E3 2015 trailer in the video below.
